NYCI supports the Bill sponsored by Senator Fintan Warfield, Lynn Ruane and Padraig Mac Lochlainn to allow young people to vote in the next Local and European Elections in 2019, which will be presented to Seanad Éireann for a second stage reading on March 29th 2017. This legislation is in line with our 2016 General Election Manifesto recommendation. If passed it would facilitate up to 126,000 young people aged 16 and 17 years to vote and determine who will represent them on local councils and in the European Parliament. NYCI calls on all members of the Oireachtas to support this legislation.
